If I was given a coin for each time I’ve been asked this question, well I may class myself a coin collector. Understandably the thicker your Afro (mine is regarded as 4C), the more care you put into keeping it neat, and combing it properly becomes somewhat of a ritual.
Well, you asked how I comb my thick Afro hair, and I am here to share it all.

You know how much I love natural oils for my hair and skin care, i'm currently obsessed with oils from the UK that can be commonly found yet are not widely used. I love Afro Hair and skin Co they use ingredients sourced from the British Isles. I love their Flow oil which contains Blackcurrant oil. Blackcurrant seed oil is a bit of a hidden treasure it helps to heal and regenerate the skin protecting the skin from free radicals [highly reactive eletrons ...yeah i still don't really get it but lets pretend....]
here are a few interesting benefits of Blackcurrant seed oil for the skin
I caught up with the founder of The Afro Hair and Skin Co Ibi, she has created an amazing brand based in the UK, check out what she had to say below....

As simple as I try to keep my regimen these days I'm pretty much using 2 products! I'm still a huge fan of deep conditioning, not only for the benefits but the ritual. It's definitely some of the only me time I get with the 3 year old around.

Hi dolls, so I'm finally doing a Head Wrap How To. There are a lot of lovely wraps available, however it is so simple to run some up yourself that look just as cute as the ones you can buy online or in store.

You know I love me some good hair....by that I mean healthy hair! I caught up with Oyin Akiniyi founder of The Good Hair Club a new online store dedicated to natural hair products made here in the UK, this isn't yet another E-commerce store but a platform that looks to redefine hair for black women.
"AT THE GOOD HAIR CLUB WE BELIEVE THAT GOOD HAIR IS HEALTHY HAIR AND SO OUR MISSION IS SIMPLE; REDEFINE THE HAIR CARE EXPERIENCE TO CHAMPION AND INSPIRE GOOD HAIR."

I am back, but this time with a post that calls for a re-introduction haha. I will also be answering all your Fro questions from my Instagram (@oneplus.ig) and Snapchat (comfort_n) and check out my blog [https://onepluspage.wordpress.com/]
Growing up in the coastal southern part of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom state, I learnt how to embrace and style my Afro from my mother, aunts and my grandmother.
‘Threading’ or ‘African Threading’ was/is one of the most common hairstyles in my village/town, and it is styled in so many ways. Threading is a protective style, but most recently a heat-free alternative to stretching our Afro.

How My Travelling began?
I was once an introvert, enduring the British weather and over-familiar with the route from school to home and to the shops. Then I finished law-school, got a job and a camera too!
Most people prefer to take a year off work (or studies) to travel, but I believe you don't have to compromise, as I do both.

Happy Hump day loves! it's been a crazy few weeks but I had to make time to interview one of my favorite humans Mrs Freddie Harrel, stylist, blogger, confidence coach and now super dupa creator of fair hair brand Big Hair No Care! I managed to grab the Parisian beauty for a natter about her newest venture and you guessed it, her natural hair regimen

Get an overnight energy boost with Lavera Re-Energizing Sleeping Cream [£16.90], I've mentioned before about all the fab things our skin does during the night. Skin cells regenerate faster at night research has shown that our skin regeneration almost doubles between the hours of 11am-4pm. Skin cells do their repair work most effectively at night. So this is a great time to use our skincare products. The Lavera Re-Energizing Sleeping Cream promotes natural cell regeneration and combats signs of fatigue meaning no more waking up looking tired and drawn.
If you have been following me on IG you will know of my love for wigs, I've been wearing them exclusively since my battle with hair loss almost 2 years ago and have become quite the pro [if I do say so myself] after much MUCH peer pressure I have caved and have have begun making wigs for others. The Wig Witch is a custom wig making service, built to offer you your perfect wig, whether you are a long time wearer of wigs or just want to change it up every now and then The Wig Witch got your back!

It's definitely been a while since I've aired out my fro, alas my baby is still here and thriving, contrary to popular belief I don't wear wigs 24/7 and when I don't the humble tapered fro is my go to style. I've been trying out some styling cremes by Yako Beauty, I was sent Let’s Curl Up Defining Crème with Avocado Oil and Smoothing Oil-in-Crème with Macadamia Oil both products are for Curly hair types, Yako [meaning Yours or Belongs to You in Swahili] is a London based brand free from nasties such as Parabens and sulphates

I'm always being asked about synthetic hair, be it wigs or wefts there is a huge demand for good quality non human hair. I have definitely been on the search for a more ethical option that doesn't compromise on the look of the hair [nothing worse than shiny plastic looking hair!] Top blogger Freddie Harrel has the answer the über blogger with the massive fro has finally let us all in on her hair "secret" and now we can have her hair too.

Absolutely LOVE the Pele Mask by Mahalo Skincare, the artisan product costs a pretty penny but its lush! “Mahalo” is an ancient Hawaiian word of gratitude, esteem, and respect and this wonder mask has my respect. The detoxifying weekly treatment works to draw out impurities, detox and tighten pores, as well as fade blemishes with no harsh chemicals. this is the best at home mask I've used it gives that just had a facial glow but in the comfort of your own home
"Named after the Hawaiian Volcano Goddess Pele, the mask is supercharged by “botox-plant” Hibiscus, anti-inflammatory Turmeric, collagen-boosting vitamin C, anti-aging Neem, sebum-balancing Witch Hazel, wrinkle-fading Guava, acne-fighting Holy Basil, toxin-magnet Volcanic Ash Clay, oxygenating Cayenne, and bacteria-absorbing Activated Bamboo Charcoal"
The Pele Mask left my skin feeling great after the first use and I've noticed I have more of a glow now that I've added it to my regimen it's a real treat for the skin.

I've recently been hitting the foundation jackpot with all these wonderful [and natural ] foundations. Next on my list is Premae Skincares MM foundation, the MM stands for Mattifying Mousse. I haven't tried a mousse foundation since the dark days of using the Maybeline some years back. MM foundation is nothing like that, it's more of a whipped/smoothie type texture and it comes in 16! shades all named after super foods [fun fact] Premae is an award winning brand known for its allergen free skincare, so I had high hopes for the MM foundation and it didn't disappoint.

95% of the brands I highlight are run by female entrepreneurs, supporting your fellow sister is where it's at! and when they produce awesome products it's not a task it's a pleasure. 3107 London Skincare is the brain child of Dija you may know her from blogging under Dijas World or you could have even had a facial from her. Dija has created an artisan line of skin care products backed up by her extensive knowledge of skincare due to her success as a UK based beauty therapist. 3107 London uses pure plant oil remedies that are 100% natural. The line Heart & Soul Deep Cleansing Makeup Remover and My Everything Soothing Facial Elixir.
Got to try another UK based hair company this past month this time it's at Beautylocks, famed for it's collabs with some of the most glamorous bloggers, and seen as I'm obviously super glam [not at all] I thought I'd give this a try. I wanted to try a completely different look from what I usually go for. You all know by now That I've been protective styling for over a year [and with great results!] I've tried most textures and this time round I wanted something a little sleeker but not poker straight and in a longer length, enter Mongolian Kinky Straight, a texture that can do the pin straight look or the slightly textured 'relaxed' or expertly blown out look. I've also been inwardly yearning for Betty Bangs, which isn't really achievable with my natural hair. I was sent 3 bundles of Mongolian Kinky Straight in 16,18,20 inches and a 16" closure for review.

For the love of Pumpkin Seeds, when I’m not stuffing them in my mouth, I'm slapping it all over my face and hair! pumpkin seed oil is moisturising for dry skin types and it also soothing for sensitive skin it and promotes hair growth.
The vitamin in Pumpkin seed oil can;
• Zinc found in the seeds help maintain collagen levels naturally for more elasticity.
• Zinc and selenium fight acne without harsh chemicals or side effects.
• Vitamin A stimulates new skin cell growth and repairs your existing skin damage.
• Essential fatty acids in pumpkin seeds help control the production of oils while maintaining moisture levels.
• Selenium also provides natural environmental and UV protection to prevent further skin damage.
• Vitamin E helps even out skin tone and minimizes the appearance of existing scars.
I've been on a bit of a journey of beauty discoveries of late due mostly to my discovery of Eco Diva Beauty, which is a one stop shop for all things eco and beauty! [go figure] I was kindly sent a whole bunch of products many that aren't readily available in the UK to test out and give my opinion on [it's a hard job but someone has to do it!] I'm going to share a few of my favourites over s series of posts. First up a product that I am very impressed with from Fitglow Beauty I was sent their foundation and mascara. I'm IN LOVE with the Fitglow Beauty Vita Active foundation in V47, it merges their vitamin rich skincare into a foundation that does more than just give you perfect looking skin.

TALIAH WAAJID is definitely a name that should be in bold capitals, with over 25 years of experience in natural hair care Taliah Waajid is the name to known in the industry. When I first returned to natural 8+ years ago Taliah Waajid products where practically the only products I could find on the shelves of my beauty supply shop, but with the advancement in natural hair products I kind of forgot about my old faithful. So I'm really excited about the new Taliah Waajid line that is her most natural yet Shea-Coco. Shea-Coco is 97-100% natural, the collection of 5 mix and match products are a real treat for natural hair [there is definitely something for everyone in this line. By now you all know how much a love a multi tasking product and I've found another amazing product for you all this time from LIHA an artisan beauty brand founded by Liah Okunniwa and Abi Oyepitan who both have a passion for beauty. I'm currently in love their Idan Oil Named after the Yoruba word for magic it can be used for absolutely everything from shaving to co washing to an all over body treat it can also be used as a solid perfume. Not only is it multi Tasking it's smells AMAZING scented with the Tuberose flower, which is a night blooming flower that is native to mexico.
"LIHA combines elements of both the diverse landscape, and the cultural history of Britain. Inspired by their heritage and traditional techniques, this range of body essentials blends urban and rural with African roots and a quintessentially British attitude"
I adore the overall feel of LIHA, as a Brit girl with African roots myself this brand is right up my street from the packaging to the processes in which they craft their products. They are also fans of DIY beauty and post up recipes like this

I made the switch to natural deodorant quite sometime ago I kept switching from natural to regular deodorant because I wasn't happy with the results of the various products I had tried out. There where a few that I really liked such as Pitrok which was a spray but I tired of having to wait for my pits to dry out before I could put on clothes I was also pretty happy with the Hippy Paste which definitely worked at stopping any odours however I still felt wet if sweated more than normal. However as much as I want to be as natural as possible I am also a realist, I want to be comfortable and only use products that work for me. I've finally found the deodorant that does and it's natural!

I'm currently obsessed with Manuka Honey, the super food from New Zealand is very popular and with good reason. Manuka Honey is a mono-flower meaning that it is collected from the nectar of a single species of flower. This being the Manuka tree or bush [tea tree]. Manuka Honey has been used for hundreds of years to treat wounds and infections due to its antibacterial properties . However this is a beauty blog so we are going to talk about the amazing benefits Manuka Honey has on skin.

Pink Himalayan Salt is s natural clean salt, so clean you can eat it straight off the mountain! It is found only in the Himalayan region of Pakistan and has a whopping 84 minerals. The minerals on this salt are so microscopic that they easy absorb making it a great beauty ingredient.
This means it's great cleaning pores as it purifies and disinfects as well as stimulating skin cells. It's also a natural antiseptic salt also attracts and hold moisture making it a amazing natural moisturiser.

Shea Moisture products are now available on the UK high street! no more buying online or getting American relatives to ship crazy amounts of Curl Enhancing Smoothie!
Shea Moisture is now available in Boots, it IS in most boots! it did take me a while to find it as it was not in the black hair section. Shea Moisture products are for all hair types but many of the fans [like myself] may have missed it in their local boots as it is with the free from products in the hair care sections.
I've been trying out Mielle Organics which is now exclusively available at My Luxe Beauty Mielle Organics is relatively new to the Natural Hair Scene. Founded by Monique Rodriguez Mielle Organics has taken the industry by storm and since 2014 has grown to a global company. Mielle uses 100% natural ingredients and is known for it result driven products. So with claims like this I had to give Mielle Organics a try.

I got my hands on the new Modiê Moisturising Créme, like many of my favourite products it's an all in one multitasker. Modiê Moisturising Créme give maximum moisture to even the driest of hair types instantly, it can be used for twist outs or wash and go's. I've been using Modiê Moisturising Créme for a few weeks applying to damp hair, I apply a small amount to each section of my hair and style as I usually would, it's great for keeping my hair soft under my wigs, I took out my twists after 4 days an my hair was amazingly soft even when using a wig cap.

Another day another UK natural brand, this time Hippy Paste by Earth Concious [love the name!] they make natural deodorant pastes as a wonderful alternative to the chemical based spray and roll on deodorants that are so readily available. Many of the off shelf deodorants contain Aluminium which acts as a block to sweat, however we need to sweat [or perspire in a ladylike manner!] in order to release toxins from our body, these toxin then get released elsewhere [so inside our lovely bodies!] I began avoiding non natural deodorants, to avoid dark marks under my arms and have had great experiences with natural spray [wet] deodorants. The paste [or wax as it feels and looks more like a solid wax] is new to me, I've been using it for a week straight and its easier to apply than I first thought.
You all know about my struggle with hair loss if you don't you can check out my post here, i've been trying out a lot of remedies this past year, some have been completely useless and some I believe have really aided in stopping the hair full I was experiencing. I started taking Liquid Iron six months ago and have noticed a change in my overall health [goodbye unexplained fatigue] I started to take it because like many women I suffer from a VERY heavy menstrual flow [wide set vagina and a heavy flow lol] and my doctor said this might have some effect on my hair, due to a lack of iron causing the body to go into 'survival mode' and so oxygen is used for vital organs [these not being your hair follicles]
"women should receive about 10 mg of iron daily, menstruating or nursing women 15 mg, and pregnant women 30 mg daily"
